Abstract This special section contains a selection of six papers from the 42nd American Society Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Computers and Information in Engineering (CIE) Conference that was held St. Louis, Missouri August 14-17, 2022, conjunction with International Design Technical Conferences (IDETC). Nominated by four technical committees namely Advanced Modeling Simulation (AMS), Computer Aided Product Process Development (CAPPD), Systems Engineering, Knowledge Management (SEIKM), Virtual Environments (VES) based on conference paper review results, these reflect recent relevant advancements areas.
